2021 Nominees

President-Elect

The President-Elect primarily uses his/her term in preparation for the Presidency and may at times function as President.

Duties:

  1. Presides as Chair over all meetings of the Society membership, Board of Directors, and Executive Committee.

  2. Appoints members of the Society to serve on committees and representatives to other organizations.

  3. Is an ex-officio member of Society committees.

  4. Makes personal presentations before key groups, including the state and federal governments, other professional organizations, and any others which may assist in the Mission of the Society.

  5. Reviews the financial, membership, and other management information reports.

  6. Represents the Society to all external organizations.

  7. As President-elect, prepares the Society's budget for the upcoming term as President.

Platform Statement:

Throughout all the sadness and changes in our lives and in our world over the past year, the pandemic has brought to us as individuals and professionals, opportunities we didn't have before. We need to be grateful and use this time to let the world know who we are!

As President-Elect, I will continue to advocate for our profession, patients, and the unmet needs for those who suffer from lung disease and related conditions. It is my vision to engage Texas RCPs in more activities with TSRC and offer a mentorship for those who want to join TSRC/AARC Leadership.

Vice-President

Assume the duties, but not the office, of the President-elect in the event of the absence, resignation, or disability of the President-elect.

Duties:

  1. Serve as Chair of the Regional Affairs Committee.

  2. Have such other powers and shall perform such duties assigned by the President and/or the Board of Directors.

Platform Statement:

I want to play a part in promoting my profession.

Treasurer

The Treasurer shall keep and maintain, or cause to be kept and maintained, according to commonly accepted accounting practice, complete and accurate accounts of all fiscal transactions of the Society.

Duties:

  1. Be responsible to complete and file a tax form 990 before the required date. A newly elected Treasurer will meet with the Chairperson of the TSRC Budget Committee to discuss procedures, account numbers and budget figures.

  2. The Treasurer shall be responsible for monitoring the use of corporate credit cards and assuring that use is properly reported.

  3. The Treasurer will maintain current phone numbers and addresses of each Regional Treasurer from the Regional Directors.

  4. Other specific duties as described in the Job Description provided by the AARC in the Manual for Chartered Affiliates.

    Nominees:

    Ceci Oldmixon MAEd, RRT

    Platform Statement:

    The TSRC is the voice for Respiratory Therapists in the state. In that role, it is critical that its leaders be active, involved and accessible to the Respiratory Therapists. As a member of the Board of Directors, I will commit to encouraging board presence

    and accessibility for all.  I believe advocacy for our profession and its members is vital especially coming out of this pandemic

    with attention it has gained. We need to be one voice for our profession to take its place as a fully recognized member of the healthcare team. with attention it has gained.

    North Region Director

    Regional Directors represent the members within the region to the Society.

    Duties:

    1. Develop educational activities and such other activities as are consistent with the Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws.

    2. Assist in expanding the membership of the region.

    3. Submit a written report on the activities within the region to the President of the Society thirty (30) days prior to the Annual Meeting.

    4. Submit quarterly Region activity and financial reports to the Society’s Board of Directors.

    5. Attend the Society Board of Directors meetings.

    Nominees:

    Platform Statement:

    My name is Anthony Ammendola and I’m running for the position of North Region Director. I have been a Respiratory Therapist for 23 years and have a strong passion for our field. For the past four years, I have been involved with the TSRC in organizing symposiums in the North Region and volunteering at the state conventions. I have been asked to present at several TSRC events over the last few years.  I feel strongly that the board needs to find ways to increase membership in our profession. My passion for respiratory is well suited to help lead us into the future.

    Platform Statement:

    Respiratory Care has been my passion since 1998. Education of Respiratory Therapists and patients is so essential in a time where there are RTS than required to care for the ever- growing number of chronically ill patients. I would love to continue serving RTs in my home state and to serve and protect our profession.

    Kelley Reynolds, RRT, RRT-NPS, RRT-ACCS, AE-C, CET

    Platform Statement:

    Respiratory Therapists in Texas have faced unprecedented challenges in 2020 and 2021.RT's need to stand together and be recognized now more than ever. Communication regarding the value of professional membership must be improved to individuals, schools, and health care facilities. Participating and engagement must be encouraged through us of online and in-person educational activities and social media. I have really enjoyed communicating with RTs in the North Region and to be able to continue to assist them with their concerns.

    Central Region Director

      Chris Russian PhD, RRT-NRS, RPSGT, RST

      Platform Statement:

      I am a registered respiratory therapist with specialty credentials in neonatal/pediatric specialty (NPS), and polysomnography technology (RPSGT & RST). I have been a respiratory therapist for over 20 years with experience in San Antonio and Austin and teaching experience at Texas state University. If elected, I will assist the Society's efforts to advance the art and science of Respiratory Care by Respiratory Therapists. I will represent the members of the Capitol and Houston Districts of the Central Region to the best of my ability and work to grow the membership of our region.
